Finding and working with mentors

'Your Mentors' is on the Learn Together page (accessible via the left-hand menu).

Finding mentors. 'Mentors' are people who are advanced or expert at target skills that you are learning, and have agreed to be mentors for those skills. We hope you might want to learn from them! Under Your Mentors, you will see a list of suggested mentors for your target skills, from your organization . Below each person's name are your target skills that they can mentor.

Contacting mentors. To request a contact with a mentor, click 'Send request' next to their name. If they accept, you will see their name at the top of the Your Mentors pane, and you will have access to contact details that they have provided. You can also break off the connection with a mentor by clicking the 'Remove' button -- we hope that won't happen too often!

Working with mentors. It's up to you how to work with a mentor once you have made a connection. For example, you could decide to arrange a video chat (we will soon be adding Skype integration), or just ask questions by email. LearnerShape helps you make learning connections, then we leave it to your imagination how to use those connections. Something like the way learning used to be in the good old days before the Internet!
