Using the LearnerShape graph

The LearnerShape 'graph' at the top of your My Skills page is one of the most powerful features of the LearnerShape interface. It allows you to:

We explain each of these features below.

The expandable legend at the top of the graph summarizes some of these features. If you have a lot of skills, your graph may not fit in your screen (particularly if you are on mobile), and you can scroll to view all of it.

The first two features of the LearnerShape graph are visible in the graph itself:

Current, target and connecting skills. Your LearnerShape graph includes your current skills (blue background) and target skills (green background), as well as connecting skills (grey background) that join current and/or target skills into the overall graph hierarchy.

Sometimes a skill may appear in more than one place in the graph with the same name. This is a natural result of the complexity of skill classification, and the LearnerShape system treats the two skills as the same.

Visualizing progress. Each current or target skill on the graph displays up to four 'LEDs' (round-cornered boxes), which show your learning progress. The number of LEDs shows the maximum of your current or target level (beginner, intermediate, advanced or expert). The color scheme is:

The remaining three features are accessible by clicking on a skill, in the pop-window that appears:

Setting focus skills. Use the 'Focused' toggle to set focus skills.

Changing skill levels. Use the colored buttons to change your current or target skill level. Target skill level is displayed only for target skills.

Choosing courses. Click on the 'Explore courses' button to choose courses for the skill using the Course Explorer.
